    McDonald Is Born

    Franklyn “Frank” McDonald sells his first covered wagon. The following 2 years Frank’s business grows and he realizes he needs a “showroom”.

  • 1932

    Getting Started

    Frank McDonald opens “McDonald Trailer Sales”, Detroit, Michigan on the west side of Woodward between 6 and 7 mile. During the 1930’s, trailoring for the fun of it became popular among the priveleged as well as movie actors and actresses keen on the comforts of the mobile trailers.

    Getting Bigger

    McDONALD MOBILHOMES sets up shop on Telegraph Rd. in Southfield, Michigan.

  • 1950s

    Making a Name

    Frank McDonald provides mobile office space for on location events such as Theatre and Radio Stations as well as mobile dressing room trailers for visiting Actors. Customers come to count on the superior level of service and quality McDonald provides.

    Expansion

    Frank expands and opens an office in the state of Florida.

  • 1970

    McDonald Mobile Offices

    Frank’s son Bruce McDonald founds what we now call McDonald Modular Solutions when McDONALD MOBILEHOMES becomes McDonald Mobile Offices selling out of the original Southfield, Michigan office.

    Under Bruce’s leadership, the company becomes an exclusive dealer of mobile offices and expands to include product lines such as: classrooms, hospitals, in-plant offices, storage containers, and Dura-Space buildings.

    RV/MH Hall of Fame

    Instrumental in the creation of over 5,000 mobile home sites in Michigan, Florida, Arizona and California, Franklyn McDonald is inducted into the RV/MH Hall of Fame in Elkhart, IN.

    Innovation Leads to Success

    With a history of innovation, McDonald Mobile Offices becomes the first mobile office dealer in the country to be registered as an ISO-9001 company.

    McDonaold Modular Solutions

    The company name was changed to McDonald Modular Solutions to better reflect offerings of both mobile and modular products.

  • 2006

    MBI Hall of Fame Inductee

    Bruce McDonald is inducted into the Modular Building Institute Hall of Fame.

    Leading Through Innovation

    Mr. McDonald leads the organization through innovation and by supporting a company-wide initiative to design and build superior quality products in an environmentally-friendly manner. McDonald Modular is still a leader in green building.

    The Torch Is Passed

    Bruce McDonald, the president and CEO of McDonald Modular Solutions Inc. in Detroit, and co-founder of Manufactured Structures Corp. of Rochester, Indiana, dies January 10, 2012.

    Celebrating 90 Years

    McDonald Modular Solutions continues it’s reputation of providing quality modular building and storage solutions through innovation, superior customer service and excellence in manufacturing.

The Legacy of Bruce McDonald

Having driven McDonald through major changes over the years, we still honor Bruce McDonald today. As one of the founders of Manufactured Structures Corporation, Mr. McDonald remained active as owner and a member of the Board of Directors. Bruce also served as Past President, Vice President, and Secretary of the Michigan Manufactured Housing Association; served on the Michigan Mobile Home Commission from 1980 to 1985, and was Vice Chairman of the Commission in 2005. McDonald Modular remains the only active founding member of the Modular Building Institute, or MBI, the international trade association for commercial modular construction. Mr. McDonald also served three years (1991 to 1993) as a director of the MBI. In 1994, he received that organization’s Outstanding Achievement Award and was inducted into the MBI Hall of Fame in 2006.
